Jimmy Galante is a former Connecticut businessman who was the owner of the Danbury Trashers, a minor league ice hockey team that played in the United Hockey League. He was also the owner of AWD, a refuse disposal company that operated in the Danbury area.
Galante gained notoriety in 2008 when he was convicted on federal charges of racketeering, conspiracy, wire fraud, and tax evasion. He was sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison and ordered to pay millions of dollars in restitution.
Galante's business empire collapsed after his conviction, and he was forced to sell off his assets to pay his legal fees and restitution. Today, he is no longer involved in business and is trying to lead a quiet life following his release from prison.
